Exciting Happenings

This past weekend I spent it in San Diego. I attended Comic Con on Saturday. I got three Emily The Strange comic books signed by the artists and writer, which I was really excited about. They also drew in my boyfriend's sketchbook which I took pictures of.
Tokidoki had a booth and the creator was there whose name is Simone. Unfortunately I got there too late and wasn't able to get tickets for his signing. I did manage to get a couple pictures of him. I wasn't able to go Sunday, but my boyfriend did go and I asked him to get my Tokidoki purse signed and he did! The artist signed and sketched the inside of my purse! I also went to a costume designers forum which was really interesting. Some of the designers worked on movies like The Matrix, and upcoming movies like the new Terminator movie and the Watchmen. I spoke to one of them afterwards and asked for some advice.
I took a few pictures of people dressed up as their favorite characters, Comic Con is like Halloween. In my past post I had mentioned I entered a contest and I won the logo contest! I'm so happy, it was a collaboration between my boyfriend and I. My logo is going to be on merchandise! Yeah.
I got more news, I got a gig as a writer on bellydancingdiva.com. It's a new site, but you should check it out for my upcoming articles.
Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Thift Shopping

Hi. Sorry I haven't posted lately. I try to post at least once a week. Over the July 4th weekend I spent it with my boyfriend in Hemet California near Temecula. We went out to eat a couple of times, watched movies, TV, played some XBox, and Jenga that I lost a few times! We also drew. I'm going to enter a logo contest for a meetup I joined. I found it through meetup.com. I joined the OC Belly Dance Meetup. The organizer is having a logo contest and whoever wins their logo becomes the official logo that will be used for merchandise. Give me good luck, I have a few more days till I enter. I just got back home from Hemet and over the past two days I went thift shopping. It was extremely hot there and once I went home it was the same. I bought three items that I'm really excited about. I can't wait till I wear them. I bought a black blouse, a beaded skirt that can also be worn as a coverup, and a blue velvet vest. Here are some pictures along with the pricing and my trip to downtom Hemet.

The shoes and the purse were a perfect match. It looked really nice inside. Too bad this store closes Mondays, be back.

Blouse: Zara $4.99

Skirt: Unknown label $4.99

Look at the detail in the skirt, good job to whoever made it.

Vest: Front, unknown label, maybe made in the middle east somewhere, $4.31

Vest: Back

It was time for me to go back home.

Crafty Weekend

I hope some of you are having better weather. This past week has been so hot! I get lazy sometimes when it's hot, but I did do some stuff regardless of the weather. This past weekend I spent it making arts and crafts. I went to Jo-Ann's and I bought a rotary cutter, I like to use a rotary cutter better then scissors. They had a sale over the weekend. My sister has a toy poodle so I made this bikini suit for her dog, I hope it fits. My first attempt at toy dog clothes and it came out pretty good. I also had a button I think I bought last month which I wanted to use for a costume, I didn't like the way it looked so I bought the same button again to have two and I turned them into earrings. Tell me what you think of each piece. I hope everyone is staying fresh this summer cause it's going to be extremely hot this time of year : )

My Style Icon of the Year

I've decided that each year I will be choosing a style icon and throughout the year I will make posts based on their personal style. This year the Be Stylin' award goes to Dita Von Teese. She is my favorite international style icon. I like her style because she styles herself, does her own makeup and does her own hair. She does not have a beauty team! Her personal stlye is inspired by old hollywood moviestars and the pin-up girl style. I've been inspired by old hollywood because I think that's when style was sexy without showing much. It was glamourous and classy. And that is what Dita Von Teese is, sexy, classy, and she carries herself so well.

Favorite Shops

I hope everyone is having a good weekend. I spent mine looking for a new place to live. I have had some luck, so now I'm just deciding where I want to go. I live with my cousin, but she is moving to Los Angeles and moving with her would mean I drive farther to get to school and work. Wish me luck. My little sister is graduating from high school this Wednesday so it's an excuse for a new outfit! These are some of my favorite shops and places I'll be looking for my outfit. Any other suggestions? I'm not sure what I'm looking for until I see it.

Coleccion de Bracelets

I bought this lovely jewelry mannequin at Pier 1 Imports for $14.00. It has an olde look to it. I wanted to share with you my bracelets. I like to use them when I want to feel something dangling on my wrist. The background is a collage I made of styles I like, enjoy.

Mesa College Fashion Show

I went to a student produced fashion show at the Sheraton Hotel by the bay in San Diego last Friday. I had one of my designs stroll down the catwalk in the show. I took a millinery class last summer and about a year later my professor asked me to feature my hat in the show. I was so excited! Here are some pictures I took of some designs that were really impressive. Also, there's a picture of my hat, I wasn't able to get a clear picture of my hat due to the model walking too fast and not posing at the end of the catwalk, I'll try to get a better picture from my teacher and I'll post it up as soon as I can get it.
